Farmers from Kandhwala Amarkot village have expressed anger over the delay in paying compensation for the crop loss due to heavy rain.

Protesting at the SDM office, they alleged that farmers who did not face losses were taking advantage of the help being extended by the government, including free wheat seeds.

They submitted a memorandum to the SDM, demanding a second special survey. The villagers said their crops were severely damaged due to heavy rain in August, for which they had not received compensation so far.

They said the government had promised Rs 20,000 per acre relief for the crop damage, but the survey conducted by the patwari and kanungo of their constituency was not fair. They said only a fresh assessment could ensure fair compensation to them.
