Farmers of border villages have sought compensation for their crops, which got damaged due to the thunderstorm, a few days ago.
Satnam Singh sarpanch of Mauzam village said the thunderstorm destroyed the standing paddy crop in hundreds of acres in Mauzam, Salemshah and Dona Sikandari, among other villages.
Surjit Kumar, a farmer, said showers flattened standing crops more than 60 per cent at several places.
Bhagwan Dass and Inderjit said farmers had met the Fazilka Deputy Commissioner on October 7, and sought suitable compensation for the damaged crops, but to no avail.
Om Parkash, another farmer, said they had urged the authorities to conduct girdawari and release compensation at the earliest.
