Farmers to resume ‘Dilli Chalo’ march from Dabwali on Sunday

After being pushed to the backfoot, farmers have now decided to enter Delhi from multiple routes after March 3.

Addressing a press conference after a day-long meeting, farmer leaders, under the banner of the Kisan Andolan-2, said they would conduct ‘Dilli Chalo’ march from other routes as well.

“It has been decided to intensify the protest and start the march from alternative routes to reach the National Capital. We will start the march from the Dabwali route on March 3,” said farmer leaders Manjit Singh Rai, Jaswinder Singh Longowal, Ranjit Singh Raju and Paramjit Singh, urging farmers from across the country to carry out similar marches towards Delhi.

“We are expecting a huge congregation of farmers at Shubhkaran’s native village Balloh and the next course of action regarding the protest will be announced following the bhog ceremony on March 3,” said Rai.

The farmer leaders reiterated that they had not blocked the Shambhu and Khanauri borders, instead Haryana should be blamed for putting up barricades on the roads. “We have learnt that the farmers in other parts of the country, who were marching towards Delhi, have also been detained,” said Longowal.

The leaders said the talks were on with members of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and a delegation also met BKU (Ugrahan) chief Joginder Singh Ugrahan. “We have received a list of march points from Ugrahan and further discussion will be taken after the bhog ceremony,” said Rai.
