The government here today introduced the country’s first “Easy Registration” system which was dedicated to the people by the Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann and National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal.

“People will not have to run from office to office, won’t have to deal with agents or middlemen, as everything from start to finish will be available on phone and will be fast, clear and transparent,” said Mann and Arvind Kejriwal.

The CM said from August 1 this system would be finally implemented in the entire state for facilitating the common man.

Talking to media after launching the project, the CM and National AAP Convener said residents could now register the sale and purchase of property at any Sub Registrar Office in the district, not just where the property was located. They said combined with Seva Sahayak doorstep services via helpline 1076, this improved access for rural households, senior citizens, busy working professionals and those with limited mobility.

The duo said the system provided real-time WhatsApp notifications at every step of the document, from submission, approval, payment and appointment ensuring citizens always know their status.

They said these built trust by removing uncertainty and making the process visible and traceable. Through online document submission, digital pre-scrutiny and self-scheduled appointments, people would no longer face long lines or repeated office visits. The 48-hour pre-scrutiny guarantee and no waiting at the final registration would reduce stress and waiting time.

By offering online payments through a single gateway, removing cash handling and introducing a unique WhatsApp corruption reporting system, the platform eliminated the space for unofficial demands and rent seeking by agents, ensuring accountability. They said by enabling self-drafting of deeds and providing affordable doorstep services through Seva Sahayaks, citizens could avoid high fees charged by private deed writers and middlemen. Residents could draft their own deeds using the “Draft my Deed” tool or seek low-cost assistance at Sewa Kendras or through Seva Sahayaks.

This increased self-reliance, reduced dependency on private deed writers and empowered citizens to manage their own transactions. Asserting that people would not have to run to banks for payments, they said the online consolidated payment gateway allowed citizens to pay all fees (stamp duty, registration fees) in one digital transaction, cutting out trips to banks and related expenses like preparing demand drafts or cash handling leading to security concerns. With 48-hour document pre-scrutiny and appointment-based registration, citizens would minimise time lost from work or family obligations, leading to indirect financial savings.

The online portal with pre-set government rates and “calculate my fees” calculator ensured that residents could plan expenses properly, avoiding hidden or surprise costs and improving financial planning with no dependency on agents. They said the new and trouble-free registration was designed to save the time, money and peace of mind of the people. It enabled an individual to get his registration done at the closest and fastest office, adding that it had been successfully started in Mohali and would be replicated across the state in coming days.
