Various social service organisations in Mansa have come to the aid of Covid-19 patients from the poverty-stricken areas by providing them medicine kits (prescribed by IMA doctors) for free.

These organisations joined hands after an acute shortage of Fateh kits was reported in the government-run hospitals and despite several requests many patients were not getting the required medicines.

Of the total 100 kits distributed among patients, 50 were donated by Shri Balaji Parivaar Sangh, 20 by Rajeshwar Kumar 30 by other members associated with various NGOs in the district.

Gurlabh Singh, a social activist said: “There is a shortage of Fateh kits for quite some time now. A medicine is the most basic thing that a patient requires as part of his treatment of any disease. It’s unfortunate if he or she does not get it, especially amid a pandemic that has already claimed many lives globally.”

“Unlike patients from well-to-do families, those from poor families cannot afford medicines or treatment charges at private hospitals,” he said.

Local health officials have intimated the state health department regarding the non-availability of Fateh kits and assured patients that they will get the kits at the earliest.
