Two persons were injured when they came in contact with a Chinese kite string while riding a motorcycle on a flyover here today.
Witnesses said the thread entwined the father-son duo Ashwini Jasuja and Chandan who were on the bike. They were shifted to a private hospital.
The sale of Chinese string (manjha), coated with glass, is banned in Fazilka district, but it is freely available in the shops.
The Chinese ‘manjha’ is made of nylon or synthetic thread treated with glass and metal to make it sharper. Unlike the cotton thread, it does not break on impact, but cuts through the skin.
Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat activists have urged the administration to initiate action to prevent the sale of the string.
