Fazilka girls win gold at National Art Festival
The girl students from Government Senior Secondary School, Dabwala Kalan, were recently honoured by the Education Department of Fazilka after winning a gold medal at the National Art Festival 2024-25. The festival, held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, concluded on January 10.
The unique festival, a celebration of culture and art, was inaugurated on January 4 by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. In the event, Fazilka won first place in the play category with their performance of the play “Mere Geetan Wali Copy” (The Notebook of My Songs).
District Education Officer (Senior Secondary) Brij Mohan Bedi and Nodal Officer Vijay Pal praised the school for representing Punjab at the national level. The performance was part of the competition where 37 teams from across the country participated, with Fazilka emerging as the top winner.
Bedi attributed the success to the relentless efforts of the students, noting that their play had triumphed first at the district level, then at the zone level, and finally at the state level. Special mention was made of the roles played by Prabh Simran Jeet Kaur, Veer Pal Kaur, Jashan Preet Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, and Deeksha Rani, whose performances were widely appreciated.
The department also honoured Kuljeet Singh, a science teacher who scripted and directed the play. Principal Subhash Narula and Assistant Director Veer Kaur were also recognised for their contributions to the achievement.
