Fazilka police seize over 2.10 lakh intoxicating tablets

The Fazilka police claimed to have dismantled a major intoxicating tablet smuggling network by recovering over 2.10 lakh tablets from a truck in Fazilka village on Wednesday. The police also seized the truck used to transport the illicit drugs.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Fazilka, Varinder Singh Brar, said that based on a specific tip-off, the police set up a checkpoint on the link road between the villages of Lamochar Kalan and Mauze Wala. Police teams, including SHOs Sachin (City Police Station), Amarjeet Kaur (Sadar Jalalabad Police Station), and Paramjit Kumar (SHO CIA Fazilka), arrested four individuals who were caught in the act of distributing boxes of tablets for supply to border area villages.

The arrested suspects were identified as Raju Ram, a resident of District Phalodi, Rajasthan; Amrik Singh, Saroj Rani, both residents of Kamre Wala village; and Neelam Rani, a resident of Lamochar Kalan village. SSP Brar stated that the accused had obtained the tablets from Rajasthan and transported them in a truck, where they were packed in several hidden boxes.

According to the police, Varinder Singh was supposed to carry the consignment for further distribution. The police revealed that Varinder Singh had previously been booked under the NDPS Act in 2019. The police also confiscated the truck, a jeep, and a bike from the site.

Six more members of the network, including Varinder Singh, Angrej Singh (Bahmni Wala village), Kulwinder Singh (Kamre Wala village), Kuldeep Singh (Amir Khas village), Surjeet Singh (Bahmni Wala village), and Vikram Singh (Sukhera Bodla village), have been booked under the NDPS Act.
