Fazilka teacher dies 4 days after being set ablaze

Four days after being set on fire allegedly by his in-laws, a teacher succumbed to his burnn injuries at the Faridkot Medical College and Hospital today.
Vishwadeep (42), posted at Government Senior Secondary School in Hasta Kalan village, was allegedly set on fire by his brother-in-law Sikander, a resident of Heeran Wali village, on Sunday.
Vishwadeep had gone to bring his wife Shakuntla, who had been living at her parental house due to a marital dispute. Sources said Vishwadeep’s mother-in-law, wife, brother-in-law and two others were at the house when he arrived.
The sources said Vishwadeep’s wife had doubts about her husband’s fidelity, thus she was living with her parents. They had an altercation and Sikander allegedly sprinkled fuel on Vishwadeep and set him ablaze. The victim sustained 90 per cent burn injuries and was referred to the Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. He had also recorded his statement before the Judicial Magistrate First Class .
Fazilka DSP Shubeg Singh said the victim succumbed to his injuries at Faridkot today.
