Fazilka villages declared containment zones

Some villages in Fazilka district have been declared as Covid containment zones.

While experts suggest accelerated vaccination is the only solution to contain the raging pandemic, the process is irregular even for urban populace. Many government school teachers tested positive and two died recently, but the vaccination drive has so far not covered the affected institutes.

Panjkosi, native village of PPCC president Sunil Jakhar, also figures in the containment zone list besides Chuhariwala Dhanna, Nihalkhera, Bazidpur Kattianwali and Vairoke villages and Radha Swami Colony, Gandhi Nagar and Kailash Nagar in Fazilka. Warning boards have been put up in these areas to make people aware of the precautions.

Dr Gurkirpal Kaur, team in charge, Covid sampling, said 682 samples were taken today.
