Chandigarh, October 11

Amidst complaints of high moisture content in paddy arriving in mandis of Punjab, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has decided to inspect two per cent of mandis randomly.

The central food agency has asked its technical officers to conduct tests and assess whether the moisture content is above the prescribed limit of 17 per cent or not, besides other quality checks, including those where the state procurement agencies are buying grain.
