Fire at Sangrur marriage palace

A fire broke out this evening at Sunrise Resorts on the Sangrur-Dhuri road. The main shed of the resort in the green area was gutted. However, the main hall of the marriage palace remained safe and untouched by the fire. The fire was controlled by five fire tenders within an hour.
Sangrur Station Fire Officer Amarinderpal Singh Sandhu said some welding work was in progress on the shed in the green area. He said sparks from the welding machine caught the decorative materials in the shed, leading to the fire.
Sandhu said that after getting information about the fire, a fire tender was sent to the marriage palace from the Sangrur fire station and later, two more fire tenders from Sangrur, one each from Dhuri and Sunam, were pressed into service to douse the flames. — OC
