A tyre showroom on Gaushala Road and a toy-seller’s house in Rajiv Nagar on Kandhwala Road in Abohar were severely damaged in two separate fire incidents on Sunday.
The fire broke out at the tyre showroom on Gaushala Road around 11 am. Fire engines arrived promptly, and the blaze was brought under control. Nearby shopkeepers noticed smoke billowing from the showroom and informed the owner, Sham Lal, and the fire brigade. Fire brigade official Varinder Kumar stated that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage would be determined later.
In a separate incident, a fire erupted in a house in Rajiv Nagar around 6 am on Sunday. Fortunately, no one was at home at the time, as the woman who lived there had gone out to sell toys, which is her only source of livelihood. The fire caused the roof of the house to collapse and destroyed many household items. Neighbors alerted the woman’s parents, who reside in another colony, and also called the fire brigade.
The fire brigade team quickly reached the site and extinguished the flames. Despite their efforts, the roof collapsed, and a large amount of property was damaged. The affected family has appealed to the government for assistance.
