Five students among 7 hurt in gurdwara cylinder blast in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, August 2
A total of seven persons, including five students, suffered burn injuries following a blast apparently due to LPG cylinder leakage at Gurdwara Jamni Sahib in Bajidpur, Ferozepur.
According to information, the incident took place today afternoon when sewadars were preparing langar for the devotees.
Those injured have been identified as Daljit Singh and Talwinder Singh, both members of the gurdwara management, Gurbaksh Singh, 16, Jagsir Singh, 17, Akashdeep Singh, 17, Rambhagwan Singh, 14, and Rajpal Singh, 18, all students and residents of Piareana village.
The students were referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, after giving preliminary treatment at the Ferozepur Civil Hospital.

The condition of Talwinder is stated to be critical as he suffered burns up to 90 per cent. The doctors at the civil hospital referred him to a private hospital in Ludhiana.
Jaspal Singh, manager, Gurdwara Jamni Sahib, said, “The injured students visit gurdwara on a regular basis. They were serving langar to the devotees when the incident took place.”
Dr Jatinder Kochhar said all injured students were referred to Guru Gobind Singh Government Medical College in Faridkot.
Taking cognisance of the incident, the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights issued a notice to Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman and instructed him to provide all possible help to the victims, besides asking him to send report on the incident before August 6 to the commission.
Dhiman said the administration was providing all possible treatment to the injured students. “We will investigate the entire matter. Our first priority is to take care of the students who suffered burn injuries,” said the DC.
