Floods no bar: Police tighten noose on drug peddlers under ‘Operation Seal’
19 checkpoints – 13 along Haryana and six on the Rajasthan side – were set up to check vehicles and commuters
Even as Punjab battles floods, police officials have maintained their focus on another menace — drugs. Under the ongoing ‘Operation Seal’, Muktsar district police today tightened security at the inter-state borders with Haryana and Rajasthan.
A total of 19 checkpoints – 13 along Haryana and six on the Rajasthan side – were set up, where vehicles and commuters were thoroughly checked. The drive was carried out jointly with police teams from the neighbouring states.
Lambi DSP Jaspal Singh said 120 personnel were deployed for the operation, which targeted drug smuggling, illegal liquor trade, and other unlawful activities. “Vehicles were verified using digital systems to ensure no miscreant goes unchecked. These operations will continue in the coming days,” he added.
He also urged residents to act as the eyes and ears of police by sharing any tip-offs related to drug trafficking or illegal activity.
