According to the case, on October 1, 2024, then SHO of Kot Ise Khan police station, Inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, along with constable Gurpreet Singh, allegedly recovered 2 kg of opium from one Amarjit Singh and booked him under the NDPS Act. Later, investigations revealed that two more accomplices of Amarjit Singh were also caught with 3 kg of opium, but were allegedly released after a deal worth Rs 8 lakh. Of this, Rs 5 lakh was reportedly taken by the SHO and two constables — Gurpreet Singh and Rajpal Singh.

Despite repeated summons, Arshpreet Kaur failed to appear in the court, leading to her being declared a proclaimed offender on July 31, 2025. Before going into hiding, she had taken to Facebook, alleging that senior officers had framed her in a false case after she resisted sexual harassment and refused to give a clean chit in a murder investigation. However, district officials said she had made no formal complaint of harassment.

Police sources confirmed that after surrendering today, the former SHO was sent to judicial custody.
