Those arrested are Jagraj Singh, alias Soni, Gurmeet Singh, alias Gitti, Amritpal Singh, Baljinder Singh, Baljit Singh and Attarveer Singh. The police had nominated seven persons in the case, which was registered on February 12 under Sections 192, 61 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at the Dharamgarh police station.

The seventh suspect, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), an organisation banned by the Government of India, is yet to be arrested.

Giving details today, Palwinder Singh Cheema, SP (Investigation), Sangrur, said on February 12, Pannu had released a video of the incident following which a case was registered. He said during investigation, it came to light that three of the accused, Jagraj, Amritpal and Baljit, had planned the incident when they were lodged together in the Bathinda jail. When Jagraj came out of the jail on leave, he was trained by Amritpal’s brother Baljinder Singh and Baljit’s brother Attarveer. They also arranged a direct communication between Jagraj and Pannu.

The SP said on the night of February 11, Jagraj and Gurmeet went to Satauj where they put up a flag and painted slogans, etc, related to Khalistan. Later, Jagraj sent a video of the incident to Pannu.

He said Gurmeet and Jagraj were arrested and they revealed the entire conspiracy. Cheema said Attarveer gave them Rs 3,500 for the job. He said five FIRs were already registered against Jagraj, three against Amritpal and one against Baljit at different police stations. \B
