Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa has urged the Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to frame rules, instructions and guidelines for live telecast of proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha.

In a communication to the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Bajwa said he has learnt that the live telecast of the Vidhan Sabha proceedings was being arranged by the state government. However, the Assembly has not framed any rules, instructions and guidelines regarding it till date.

He said the government’s decision of live telecast contradicts the role of the Opposition to scrutinize and highlight the loopholes in implementation of the policies impacting the interests of beneficiaries.

“The allegation of the Opposition during the last sitting of the House that they are being discriminated against in the matter of telecast is strongly justified in the absence of any rules, instructions and guidelines to regulate the live telecast of the proceedings,” he added.
