Fugitive returns from Italy after cops attach property

Fearing that his assets worth lakhs will be confiscated and attached as case property, a fugitive returned from Italy to face law.
Over a year after being declared proclaimed offender after he shifted abroad and evaded arrest, declared fugitive Jasmer Singh surrendered in the court.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police Vikramjit Duggal said under a special drive to arrest the fugitive criminals and attach their assets, the police zeroed in on Jasmer, a resident of Shambhu Kalan village, facing an FIR under Sections 323, 324, 34 of the IPC.
“Jasmer was declared a fugitive by a court in Rajpura in January 2020 and the Shambhu police had been trying to arrest him. He went to Italy after the case was registered. His movable and immovable property was traced by our team as per the code of procedure,” he said.
Jasmer has a plot in the village and legal action was initiated to confiscate the property worth about Rs 13 lakh. “When Jasmer came to know about the ongoing proceedings for confiscation of his plot, he came from Italy and surrendered in the court. He has been arrested and further legal action is being taken,” Duggal added.
