Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, on Wednesday to emphasise the need for improved road infrastructure around Anandpur Sahib. He highlighted the necessity of four-lane roads connecting key religious sites, including Kiratpur Sahib, Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi.

Bains also proposed upgrading the Banga-Anandpur Sahib route to a national highway and constructing a 50-km greenfield expressway from Anandpur Sahib to Chamkaur Sahib, connecting Himachal Pradesh with Ludhiana. He suggested naming the expressway “Guru Gobind Singh Expressway”.

Gadkari reportedly approved the four-laning of the road from Kiratpur Sahib to the Himachal border, the Banga-Anandpur Sahib road’s elevation to National Highway status and the proposed expressway. He assured that work on these projects would begin soon and instructed officials to expedite the necessary studies and preparations.
