The police have busted a gang of snatchers here with the arrest of seven persons who looted vehicle occupants by impersonating as women during night time. The police have recovered one pistol, a dagger, 15 mobilephones and Rs 25,000 cash from their possession.
Addressing a press conference, Balwinder Singh Randhawa, SP (D), Bathinda said, “A group of seven unemployed persons had formed a gang recently and had started looting vehicle occupants around the Rampura Mandi area. A police team during a surprise checking nabbed these persons. After their interrogation, the police recovered 15 mobilephones, one .315 pistol, air pistol, dagger, three-wheeler, jeep and two motorcycle from their possession. These accused were booked under relevant sections of the IPC. They used to wear clothes of women and stop trucks, Canters and other vehicles on road at night and loot drivers.”
