Gangster Happy Passia has claimed responsibility for an alleged grenade attack near Gate number 3 of the Khasa BSF camp along the Amritsar-Attari road last night. Punjab Police and BSF officials have, however, categorically denied any such incident, dismissing the claim as misinformation and terming it as fake post to spread panic.

A post on the Facebook account of “Babbar Khalsa International” claimed there was a grenade attack outside Gate No. 3 of the Khasa BSF camp around 1.30 am. The post stated Happy Passia and Gopi Nawanshahria had claimed responsibility for the attack.

The post justified the alleged act by citing imposition of the President’s Rule in Manipur, which, it claimed, had led to increased atrocities in the region. The post drew parallels between the incidents of 1980s involving the Sikh community and the current situation in Manipur. It accused the Indian Government of allowing atrocities against Christians during conflicts between Kuki and Naga communities in Manipur.

BSF officials, however, dismissed the claim as a deliberate attempt to spread fear and misinformation. According to them, no such attack had occurred outside the Khasa BSF camp in Amritsar. They labelled the viral social media post as an attempt to create panic. Senior police officials also denied the occurance of any blast and termed it as a fake post.
