Patiala, August 1
The police have apprehended gangster Puneet Singh, alias Golu, who has multiple cases registered against him, after a brief encounter.
Golu, a resident of New Mathura Colony in Patiala, was cornered by the police in Sanour. He was involved in the murder of Tejpal Singh in Patiala and a finger-chopping incident that took place in Mohali on February 8.
As the police teams zeroed in on him, Golu opened fire on cops, thus prompting them to retaliate in self-defence. During the encounter, Golu sustained a bullet injury on the leg.
Golu, a close associate of gangster Rajiv Raja, has a long criminal history with 15 robbery, murder and attempt-to-murder cases registered against him
He had jumped bail in several cases and was evading arrest in others. The police have seized a .32 bore pistol, cartridges and a bike from the possession of the accused.
