Gear up for byelections: Sandeep Pathak to AAP cadres in first meet after Jalandhar win

After its big win by a margin of 37,725 votes in the just concluded Jalandhar West bypoll, the Aam Admi Party has girded up its loins for the remaining four bypolls in the state. A day after the Aam Aadmi Party won the Jalandhar West bypoll, the party national secretary Sandeep Pathak today congratulated and thanked the party’s leaders, workers and ground level cadres in a ‘thanks meeting’ held at a local hotel. While CM Bhagwant Mann was also to attend the meeting today, he had to head to Delhi for an important engagement.

In the meeting, Pathak asked party cadres to gird up loins for the upcoming bypolls in the state. Extending generous thanks to all who facilitated the party’s win at ward and booth levels in the bypoll, Pathak told them that AAP will fight the remaining bypolls with all it’s might and win them. He also asked workers to stay prepared for the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections.

After the conclusion of the Jalandhar West bypoll, bypolls to the Chabbewal, Dera Baba Nanak, Barnala and Gidderbaha Assembly constituencies are yet awaited.

The meeting today was attended by the AAP ward and booth in-charges, MLAs, cabinet ministers, chairmen, office-bearers, board heads etc. who were deputed during the Jalandhar West bypoll.

Specifically naming minister Aman Arora, leader Pawan Tinu and winning candidate Mohinder Bhagat, Pathak tasked the trio with the responsibility to ensure that all work commitments promised to the people of Jalandhar West are fulfilled.

Duties of 360 workers from the state have also been deputed for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha polls scheduled for October. Workers will be expected to move there in a few days.

Meanwhile, armed with a list of booths, wards and areas which registered the best performances in the Jalandhar bypoll, Pathak congratulated all the in-charges, MLAs, leaders of those areas by name. Cabinet Minister Jeevan Jyot Kaur was congratulated for the majority lead gained in Ward Number 36 where she was deputed. Similarly, MLAs Sherry Kalsi and Sukhveer Singh Maiserkhana, among others were also congratulated for ensuring impressive wins at their wards.

Pathak repeatedly asked cadre to stay humble and not to direct ire or social media tirades against detractors or rivals, asking them to focus on winning next elections. Following the address, he also held a separate meeting with party MLAs. The meeting was followed by a luncheon.

Jalandhar West MLA-elect Mohinder Bhagat, cabinet ministers Aman Arora, Jeevan Jyot Kaur, Harpal Cheema, leader Pawan Tinu, RS MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, MP Rajkumar Chabbewal, MLAs Laljit Bhullar, Raman Arora, Balkar Singh, Inderjit Kaur, among other leaders were present.

A party leader said, “Pathak’s main aim was to pep up and thank the cadres for the impressive win in the bypoll and boost everyone for upcoming elections. CM Mann was the face of bypoll and from behind the scenes, Pathak did ground work for formulating strategies.”

CM Bhagwant Mann is also expected to come to Jalandhar in a day or two.
