Gifts pour in for inmates of Samarth old-age home on Lohri, bring joy

In a heart-warming display of generosity, several donations were made to the inmates of Samarth old age home and Udbhav Awas in Abohar on the occasion of Lohri festival. The institution, located in the Nai Abadi area, provides shelter to elderly women and homeless girls.

Founded by Sumedha Kataria, a retired IAS officer, along with her sisters, Samarth old age home and Udbhav Awas was established in memory of their parents—Sardari Lal Kataria, a freedom fighter, and Shanta Kataria, a founder of the Arya Mahila Propkarini Sabha in Abohar.

SBI’s Chief Manager Revta Indlia and Assistant Manager Rohit Goyal visited the Ashram and presented a range of gifts, including a 273-liter LG refrigerator, a commercial Reverse Osmosis (RO) system, a water cooler, heavy-duty inverter and battery, a water tank, kitchen utensils, a gas stove, and warm winter clothes. Indlia emphasised the bank’s commitment to fulfilling its social responsibilities and assured that they would continue supporting the Ashram with necessary donations in the future.

Additionally, Ratan Tiwari, a resident of Uttam Vihar Colony, visited the Ashram with his family and donated 13 mattresses and 13 quilts. He praised the efforts of the Ashram’s management and promised to continue contributing to its needs.
