A ‘grenade’ was hurled at a YouTuber’s house in Raipur Rasoolpur village here in the wee hours of Sunday. A Pakistan-based gangster, who too is a YouTuber, has claimed the responsibility of the incident.

The ‘grenade’ was hurled in the balcony of Navdeep Sandhu’s house. Sandhu runs a YouTube channel by the name of Rozer Sandhu.

In a video posted on the social media, Shehzad Bhatti, the Pakistan-based gangster, said the ‘grenade’ was hurled at YouTuber Navdeep Raipur Rasoolpur for posting ‘objectionable comments against the Muslim community’.

The Jalandhar Rural police have registered an FIR against Bhatti. They claimed the incident was a fallout of ‘rivalry’ or ‘fame war’ between the two YouTubers and that there was no blast.

In the video, Bhatti warned of “more action” in future if the YouTuber and his associates were not arrested. He also claimed that gangsters Zeeshan Akhtar, the mastermind of Baba Siddique’s murder, and US-based terrorist Happy Passia helped him in carrying out the attack.

A team of the Jalandhar Rural police, led by SSP Gurmeet Singh, rushed to the spot and began an investigation. While Bhatti has been booked, the police are probing if Akhtar and Passia had a role in the incident.

In the video, Bhatti claimed, “The grenade was thrown in Punjab’s Jalandhar because he (the YouTuber) was abusing Islam. If he survives, we will do it again. These are five people who did it. I thank my brothers Zeeshan Akhtar and Happy Pashia who helped me. If you want no bloodshed, if you want peace, arrest them. I will give you their names and photos. If you don’t arrest them, I will wreak such a havoc that their seven generations will remember. I’ve made the video so that nobody abuses Islam in future.”

Meanwhile, Navdeep Sandhu claimed that the attack was carried out for fame. He denied having posted any content against Islam.

Jalandhar SSP Gurmeet Singh said, “There is an old rivalry between the duo. Their tussle made them popular. Amidst all this, their discord intensified.”

The SSP added, “The veracity of the video and the place from where the object was lodged are being probed. There was no blast at the YouTuber’s place and the incident came to light in the morning only.”

DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla said, “A professional rivalry led to the incident, of which the gangster has taken the responsibility. Both YouTubers have been accusing each other of posting content against Islam and Sikhism, respectively. The case seems to be a matter of an old rivalry between the two YouTubers. A metal object was hurled, which wasn’t a grenade. There was no blast. The object has been sent for a forensic examination. The aim was to generate a scare rather than causing a serious attack.”

Hoshiarpur NRI gets threat call

Hoshiarpur: After claiming responsibility for the recent grenade attack in Jalandhar, Pakistan-based don Shehzad Bhatti has now threatened NRI Simran Sikand, a resident of Hoshiarpur, with a grenade attack on his house.

Bhatti reportedly told Sikand via audio/video calls that five persons, including him, were on his target and that the attack on “Roger’s house in Jalandhar was carried out by his men as part of that series”.

Sikand’s mother Neeru Sikand has lodged a complaint with the Model Town police here. She has alleged that her son Simran, who lives in Canada, has been threatened of a grenade attack by Shehzad Bhatti. Their lives were in danger, she said.

Model Town police station SHO Kiran Singh said, “A 112 response vehicle equipped with CCTV cameras has been deployed on one side of their house and a PCR vehicle on the other.” OC
