Grooms, brides no exception for violation of traffic rules in Malerkotla
Grooms and brides passing under the Malerkotla, Amargarh, and Ahmedgarh subdivisions must be extra careful in following traffic rules for their safety.
Unlike other regions of the state where traffic cops are typically lenient toward the implementation of traffic rules for vehicles occupied by grooms and brides, more emphasis is being placed on their safety while they travelling through this region.
“Although the safety of all commuters is equally important to us, we cannot afford to allow you to ignore safety today, as it is the most auspicious day of your life,” traffic personnel Gurmukh Singh Laddi told a groom travelling without buckling seatbelt. However, exhibiting a humane gesture, Laddi presented a shagun to the groom instead of taking punitive action against him for the violation. The driver of the car, who happened to be a close relative of the groom, was also made to fasten his seatbelt.
SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said that in-charges of traffic cells, besides SHOs, had been asked to be extra vigilant on Sundays and holidays when residents, along with their children, commute between their residences and various venues of social functions.
Appreciating the gestures shown by cops while dealing with mild violations, Gagan said that such incidents leave a lifelong impression on the persons being condoned.
“Having studied the trend regarding laxity among people enjoying holidays and special functions, we have advised in-charges of various teams to be extra vigilant on these days,” said the SSP, arguing that the extra deployment of cops on highways and link roads on special days acts as a deterrent against traffic violation.
