Gunfire near private school in Phillaur sparks panic; 1 injured, probe on
The incident comes close on the heels of a previous shootout targeting Mandeep Singh Gora, the owner of Atwal House, which had already created tension in the locality
Panic gripped the Phillaur area late last night after a gunfire incident was reported behind a private school situated along the Phillaur highway. The sudden shooting left residents in a state of panic.
According to preliminary reports, an unidentified assailant opened fire in the vicinity of the school, injuring one person. The injured has been identified as Karan Kumar, a resident of Phillaur village. He sustained a bullet injury on his thigh and was immediately rushed to a local hospital before being referred to Jalandhar for advanced treatment.
Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving the information. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Phillaur stated that a police team is actively investigating the matter and that details would be shared with the media once the preliminary inquiry is completed. “We have collected crucial evidence from the site and are following significant leads,” the SHO said.
Local residents expressed deep concern over the repeated incidents of violence in the area. They alleged that despite multiple cases of shootings and other criminal activities in recent months, political leaders and local authorities had failed to take adequate action to ensure public safety.
It is noteworthy that the incident comes close on the heels of a previous shootout targeting Mandeep Singh Gora, the owner of Atwal House, which had already created tension in the locality. Even before that matter could settle, the latest shooting has once again shaken public confidence and intensified the atmosphere of fear.
