Gunhouse owner held for supplying arms to gangsters in Punjab

The Fazilka police claimed to have arrested a gunhouse owner and booked six others for allegedly supplying weapons to gangsters and anti-social elements.

The accused, Harish Kumar, alias Rishu, owner of Rahul Gunhouse, Fazilka and Durga Gunhouse, Abohar, was arrested from the DC Chowk on Sunday evening.

Following a tip-off, the police also booked Sanjeev Kumar, alias Timmi, a resident of Abohar, and four or five unidentified persons under Section 25 of the Arms act and Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC.

The police said the gunhouse owner was involved in illegal sale and purchase of arms. It said fake entries of purchased and sold arms were made in the register of the gunhouse.

The accused and his accomplices are learnt to have established contacts with gangsters in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. They bought illegal arms and further supplied these to gangsters.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Detective), Fazilka, Bhupinder Singh said the police were investigating the matter.

The accused have been booked on the basis of the confession of owner of Kapil Gunhouse, Jalalabad, who was arrested by the police for his alleged association with gangsters. “After the completion of the investigation, we will come to know about the gangster to whom the accused had supplied the arms,” said the DSP. — OC
