A team of the Organised Crime Control Unit along with the city police on Monday raided Durga gunhouse located opposite to the subdivisional administrative complex here and scrutinised the records and verified arms after booking its owner for supplying weapons to gangsters and anti-social elements.
The police said a case was registered under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC and 25 of the Arms Act. A case had also been registered against some persons for preparing fake arms licences in 2011.

After networking with anti-social elements in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the accused allegedly bought illegal arms and supplied them to gangsters in Punjab, the police added.
Harish, who was held on Sunday evening, was produced in a court that extended his police remand till February 14.
The accused have been booked on the basis of the confession of owner of Kapil Gunhouse, Jalalabad, who was arrested by the police for his alleged association with gangsters. “After the completion of the investigation, we will come to know about the gangster to whom the accused had supplied the arms,” a senior police officer said. — OC
