The police said a case was registered under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC and 25 of the Arms Act. A case had also been registered against some persons for preparing fake arms licences in 2011.

Harish Kumar Rishu, another gunhouse owner Sanjeev Kumar, alias Timmy, and four or five other unidentified persons were allegedly involved in the illegal sale and purchase of arms and also made fake entries. After networking with anti-social elements in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the accused allegedly bought illegal arms and supplied them to gangsters in Punjab, the police added.

Harish, who was held on Sunday evening, was produced in a court that extended his police remand till February 14.
