Chairing a meeting of officials, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said The 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur would be commemorated as a national level event at Anandpur Sahib in the month of November.

The minister said Anandpur Sahib would be developed to receive lakhs of devotees from across the world for this mega event. He said that it is a matter of great pride to have the opportunity to serve during the 350th martyrdom anniversary events of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The government will put up "Tent City," where all basic facilities will be provided along with transportation services for the devotees, who would come from around the world. A light and sound show will be organised at 'Virast-e-Khalsa' to educate the younger generation about Sikhism and its history.

Before the anniversary, Anandpur Sahib will be completely transformed into a White City. A policy will be implemented mandating that all new buildings in the area be painted white.

Bains also said that the memorial dedicated to Bhai Jaitaji will be completed at Anandpur Sahib by September 5 and will be inaugurated and dedicated to the Sangat on his birth anniversary.

The minister said that operational hours of the Nature Park at Anandpur Sahib will be extended from 5am to 10pm, and the library at Virasat-e-Khalsa will remain open until 7.30 pm.

The minister added that Turban Museum will also be established in Anandpur Sahib. On this sacred occasion, a special plantation drive will be launched to rapidly increase greenery in and around Anandpur Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib, with a goal to plant 3,50,000 saplings. The VIP road leading to Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib will be named as Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Marg and beautified accordingly, he said.

A multi-level vehicle parking facility will be constructed in the city. For the convenience of devotees, new washrooms will be built in Sri Anandpur Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib, he added.
