Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu has got extension for another three months. Acting on the recommendation of the government, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria gave the assent in that regard.
Appointed VC in August 2017, when Capt Amarinder Singh was the Chief Minister, Sandhu’s tenure is set to stretch over seven years. Before joining as VC, Sandhu remained the Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and had been professor and Head of the Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy at the GNDU.
A selection committee appointed by the AAP government has reportedly commenced screening of applicants for the post. The committee has received over 40 applications.
