He was addressing a large gathering at Lovely Professional University (LPU) Phagwara while inaugurating Operation Sindoor Vijay Yatra.

Recalling the Army’s swift and decisive response to Pakistan’s cowardly act in Pahalgam, the Governor called it “unprecedented in the nation’s history” and a strong message to the world: any act of terror against Indian citizens will be met with resolute force.

Kataria was joined on the occasion by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and LPU chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, who extended a warm welcome to the Governor and lauded his leadership in this nationalistic initiative.

Calling Punjab the land of saints, soldiers and martyrs, Kataria said the unwavering support shown by Punjabis during Operation Sindoor uplifted the morale of the armed forces. Drawing a parallel between protecting borders and preserving society, he made a passionate appeal to every Punjabi to become a soldier in the war against drugs.

“The Punjab Government is actively working to eradicate drugs, but this cannot be the government’s fight alone. Every citizen, especially the youth and educational institutions, must rise and make this a people’s movement,” he emphasised.

He urged universities and colleges to promote sports and character-building activities, and to treat drug-affected youth with empathy and understanding. “Educational institutions can become the cornerstone of a drug-free Punjab,” he noted.
