Hand grenade, pistol seized, two arrested
The Counter Intelligence wing has busted a module being operated by UK-based Nishan Singh and arrested two persons along with firearms, including a hand grenade, a pistol and four cartridges.
The AIG said acting on a tip-off, the CI team launched an operation in Bahadurwala village and nabbed Jagtar Singh, alias Jagga, on January 8.
He said during search, the CI team seized a pistol along with four cartridges from him and impounded a motorcycle.
His associate, Jashanpreen Singh, alias Jashan, of Nangal Guru village in Amritsar managed to escape from the spot, said the AIG, adding that Jashan was nabbed from Maharashtra.
On the basis of interrogation of the accused, the CI seized hand grenade from Harike Khalra, near Patti Mour in Tarn Taran.
The AIG said the accused were planning to target an officer or police station in Amrtisar district on the instructions of Nishan. He said the registration number of the impounded motorcycle was found tampered with.
