Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has broken his silence, although indirectly, amid mounting controversy over casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film “Sardaar Ji 3”.

Diljit shared a cryptic post on Instagram that many believe is his subtle response to the ongoing outrage. The post read, “Censored before release?”—a reference to his another film “Punjab 95” which was delayed due to censorship issues.

The film, “Punjab 95”, directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, is based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a human rights activist who exposed mass disappearances during Punjab’s militancy era.

Though not directly related to “Sardaar Ji 3”, the timing of the post suggests Diljit’s frustration with censorship and controversy surrounding his work.

Meanwhile, “Sardaar Ji 3”—the third installment in the fantasy horror-comedy franchise—is making headlines for Diljit’s collaboration with Hania. The announcement triggered outrage online, particularly among Indians, who criticised actor for working with a Pakistani artist amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

The backlash intensified following the trailer release, which Diljit captioned, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June Overseas Only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.”
