HM lauds CRPF for restoring peace in N-E, J&K

Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday undertook a comprehensive review of the CRPF’s operations and administrative efficiency during a visit at its headquarters in the national capital.

He indicated that the CRPF was playing an important role in ensuring internal security and peace in the country. He said the CRPF had done a commendable job in tackling Naxalism and restoring peace and stability in the North-Eastern states and Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, Director General, CRPF, Anish Dayal Singh, apprised Shah about various welfare schemes being implemented for the families of martyred jawans, including appointments on compassionate ground in the CRPF. Shah’s review meeting comes more than a month after 10 suspected militants were killed during an encounter with the CRPF personnel in Manipur’s Jiribam.

Shah on Wednesday also inaugurated 10,000 newly established multipurpose primary agricultural credit societies (M-PACS) along with dairy and fisheries cooperative societies. He announced that the goal of creating 2 lakh new PACs in five years, would be completed ahead of schedule.

Shah said after the formation of 2 lakh PACs, it would become easier to take farmers’ produce to global markets through forward-backward linkages. He acknowledged the crucial role of NABARD, NDDB, and NFDB in facilitating the registration of 10,000 PACs.
