Former minister and Fategarh Churian MLA Tript Rajinder Bajwa has urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to hold the special session to mark the 350th martyrdom day anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha instead of Anandpur Sahib.

In a representation to the CM, Bajwa said a special session at Anandpur Sahib would not only set an undesirable precedent but would compromise on the decorum, sanctity, and procedural discipline of legislative functioning.

“Significantly, lakhs of devotees from across the world are expected to visit Anandpur Sahib to pay their obeisance. As a result, the civil and police administration will already be under great pressure to manage the pilgrims, maintain law and order, and ensure necessary facilities. Organising the legislative session would strain the system and create unnecessary logistical complications," he pointed out.

He further added even during the previous Congress government, a special session was held at the Vidhan Sabha to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had participated and addressed the House. The same can be done now, he added.
