Chairman of the Punjab State Human Rights Commission, Justice Sant Parkash, visited district jail here today. Taking stock of the facilities being provided to the inmates, he also inspected the hospital, cooking place and quality of the food there. He reportedly expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in the jail.

Justice Sant Parkash heard problems being faced by the inmates and gave directions to the jail officials to solve the same. The staff should remain vigilant to prevent the availability of drugs and mobile phones etc in the jail, he added.

Sangrur SDM Charanjot Singh Walia, Jail Superintendent Manjit Singh Tiwana, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Prabhjot Singh Kaleka and Civil Surgeon Dr Kirpal Singh were present, among others.
