Braving the chill and fog, hundreds of people participated in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh on Thursday.
People assembled in a public park and walked up to the district collectorate office. They raised placards and banners against the NDA government.
Outside the Sriganganagar district collectorate office, a rally was organised and a memorandum addressed to the President of India was given through the district collector demanding scrapping of the CAA.
Former legislator Het Ram Beniwal slammed Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for “attempting to disintegrate the democratic and sovereign structure of the country by pursuing a hidden agenda that was scripted at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur”. “They are following the diktats of the RSS top brass and consider youth and students as enemies,” he said. — OC
