A husband, father-in-law and sister-in-law have been booked for beating, inflicting injuries and chopping the hair of a woman in Kathgarh village of Fazilka district, while the injured woman, Manjeet Kaur, has been referred to GGS Medical College, Faridkot, for treatment.

Hit with scissors

Victim alleged that her sister-in-law and husband informed her that they were buying some property for which they told her to ask for ~ 40,000 from her parents. When she refused her enraged husband, father-in-law and sister-in-law, allegedly thrashed her. She also alleged that her husband hit her on her nose, back and fingers with a pair of scissors and they all chopped her hair. As a result of which she fell unconscious

Manjeet, who was married 7 years ago alleged, in her statement, that her in-laws used to beat her and pressure her to bring money from her parents.

She alleged that her sister-in-law, Neelam Rani, asked her to come into a room where her husband Amarjeet Singh informed her that they were buying some property for which they told her to ask for Rs 40,000 from her parents. When she refused to do so her enraged husband, father-in-law, Desa Singh, and sister-in-law, allegedly thrashed her. She also alleged that her husband hit her on her nose, back and fingers with a pair of scissors and they all chopped her hair. As a result of which she fell unconscious.

However, Manjeet Kaur’s brother Angrej Singh had on Friday alleged that injuries were also inflicted on her private parts. He had claimed that they had recently paid Rs 2 lakh to his sister’s in-laws.

The accused have been booked under Sections 115(2), 118 (1), 79 and 3(5) of the BNS.
