In a day, development authorities earn Rs 2,945 crore from e-auction

Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) and other regional development authorities earned a whopping Rs 2,945 crore from e-auction of various properties across the state in a single day today.

The e-auctions which began on September 6, featured properties of the nature of group housing, multiplex, commercial chunks, residential plots, SCOs, booths, shops, SCFs and others.

The highest revenue of Rs 2,505 crore came from auction of properties in Mohali by Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). The properties auctioned in Mohali included two commercial chunks in Sector 62, one chunk each situated in Eco City-1 and Aerocity, three group housing sites located in Sector 66, Ecocity-2 and Medicity, besides 16 SCOs and 12 booths situated in different sectors. CM Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the charge of the Housing Department, said that auction of these properties got a massive response from the public.

He said that every single penny received from the e-auctions would be spent for carrying out development projects to provide state-of-the-art amenities to the people. Mann commended the efforts of all the officials involved in conducting the e-auctions adding that each and every one performed their duty professionally.

In Ludhiana, GLADA auctioned 32 properties, Bathinda Development Authority auctioned 23 properties, Amritsar and Jalandhar development authorities found bidders for 34 and 22 properties respectively and Patiala development authority auctioned 17 properties. The successful bidders would be allotted sites on depositing 10 per cent payment and possession would be handed over to them on payment of 25 per cent of the total bid amount.
