In Brief: 2 killed in Sangrur road accident
Two persons riding a bike were killed after being hit by a car on the Sunam-Mansa road, near Cheema town (Sunam) last evening. The deceased were identified as Ajaib Singh (65) and Karamjit Singh (22), both residents of Cheema.
Ajaib Singh and Karamjit Singh were reportedly returning to Cheema from Sunam on the motorcycle when the mishap occurred.
Pact to increase disease surveillance
Chandigarh: The Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department has signed an MoU with the National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi, to set up a state branch at the Community Health Centre in Manawala, Amritsar. The aim is to enhance disease surveillance and boost rapid response to contain outbreaks.
Mobile medical units for rural healthcare
Chandigarh: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh flagged off 10 mobile medical units from the Punjab Bhawan here on Monday. These units, launched in collaboration with the Hans Foundation, aim to bring essential medical services to the doorstep of residents in rural areas of Mansa and Bathinda.
Law officers’ term extended till Mar 31
Chandigarh: Four days after the resignation of all 232 law officers was called for, the government has extended the contractual term of 167 up to March 31. The recommendation was made by the Advocate-General’s office on February 10. The officers are appointed to represent the state in courts.
