The Ferozepur district reported its second Covid case on Monday. The Health Department, however, said the situation was under control and there was no nned to panic. According to sources, the 39-year-old patient belonged to Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan. He is a railway employee and recently travelled to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rajwinder Kaur said the patient had been advised home isolation. She said there is no cause for panic. On May 27, a 25-year-old man from Ambala had tested positive here.

No need to panic over Covid, says state health minister

Amidst rising Covid cases, Health Minister Balbir Singh has urged residents not to panic. The variant reported in parts of the country was mild and under control, with over 98 per cent infected individuals recovering, he added. He, however, advised residents to maintain hygiene, wear masks in crowded areas and following standard safety practices. The situation was being closely monitored, he said. Punjab currently has six active Covid-19 cases.

582 examined at two mobile eye camps in Abohar

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti organised two mobile eye camps at Dangarkhera village and Sardarpura in the Abohar area, a press release stated here on Monday. At Dangarkhera, 284 persons were examined by Dr Lovely Kansal, ophthalmologist of Civil Hospital, while 298 persons were examined,79 patients were given spectacles and 29 were selected for eye surgery at the Sardarpura camp. Optometrists Inderjeet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Ankita did refraction of all the patients.

MP demands independent probe into custodial death

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Bathinda Lok Sabha MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday visited the family of Narinderdeep, who was alleged killed in police custody recently. She sought an independent probe into the incident. Interacting with the family members at the victim's residence in Goniana Mandi, she said, “All guilty of this crime should be brought to book”.
