In Fazilka district, 47 sarpanches elected unopposed

After the process of withdrawal of nominations for the panchayat elections, 1,519 candidates for the sarpanch posts and 4,286 for the panch posts are left in the fray in Fazilka district.

Additional District Electoral Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner Development Subhash Chander said only 47 sarpanches and 1,107 panches had been elected unopposed in the district. Now there are 265 candidates in the fray for the posts of sarpanch in Abohar, 208 in Khuian Sarwar, 132 in Arniwala, 363 in Fazilka and 551 in the Jalalabad block.
