Chandigarh, January 22

DK Tiwari, Neelkanth Avhad, Ajit Balaji Joshi, Neelima and Gurpreet Singh Khaira, who had been without posting for a long time, have finally been given postings today.

They are among the 10 IAS officers who have been issued new posting orders.

Tiwari and Khaira had been without posting for past several months after the panchayat poll fiasco. The premature dissolution of gram panchayats was challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the state government had to withdraw the order.

They were initially also placed under suspension, but later their suspension orders were revoked. Tiwari is now Additional Chief Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, while Khaira has been posted as Director, State Transport.

Avhad has also been without a posting for past several months since he was posted out of the Public Works Department.

He has now been given charge of Water Supply and Sanitation. Joshi, whose cadre was recently changed from Haryana to Punjab, too, had remained without posting for nearly two months.

He is now posted as Secretary Agriculture and Farmer Welfare.

Neelima too was available for posting for a long time. Her name had cropped up in the land bifurcation case of the PSIEC last year. She is now Commissioner, Agriculture.

Alok Shekhar, who was recently repatriated from the Centre to the state, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development.

The two main charges of Rakhee Gupta Bhandari - Secretary Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism- have been taken away. She is now posted as Principal Secretary, Food Processing Department. The charge of Parliamentary Affairs has been given to Dilraj Singh and of Tourism to Amit Dhaka.

Tejveer Singh, who had been holding several important portfolios for quite some time, has been now relieved of two charges of Rural Development and Governance Reforms.

Governance Reforms has been given to Krishan Kumar. He will continue to hold charge of Power and Industries departments.
