Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said the discussions were underway to fine-tune the concept of “Gurukurpa Express”, which would enable tourists to visit various Sikh shrines in the country.

Responding to a supplementary question posed by the Aam Aadmi Party MP, Raghav Chadha during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Vaishnaw said the proposed train has been conceptualised under the “Bharat Gaurav Train Project”.

Proposed in 2021

  • The “gurdwara circuit” was proposed by the Centre in September 2021 under the “Bharat Gaurav Train Project”
  • The theme-based tourist circuit trains — Shirdi Sai Express, Ramayana Express and Divya Kashi Express — are already operational

The theme-based tourist circuit trains — Shirdi Sai Express, Ramayana Express and Divya Kashi Express — were already operational, he said.

“We are talking to people associated with gurdwaras in Delhi, Amritsar and Hazur Sahib in Nanded. As soon we finalise the concept, we will start the train,” said Vaishnaw said.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Railways Rao Saheb Danve said there was no plan to start a bullet train between New Delhi and Amritsar.
