The visitors included Gurdas Singh Kaler, an owner of Kaler Bee Farm —- an emerging brand specialising in organic and premium quality honey through super colonies, and Jaspreet Singh Sandhu from Doctor Kissan enterprises, who came up with an idea to use the leftover potatoes and process them into ‘aloo wari’. The aspiring entrepreneurs visited SBS and gained valuable insights from the team of National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations —- Technology Business Incubator (NIDHI-TBI), a Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, sponsored project. It changed their entire perspective on farming in Punjab. Kaler also got technical assistance from the Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University.

Dr Jaspal Singh, Principal Entomologist and Harinder Singh, Bee Professional (JRF), suggested the use of super colonies, and said that moisture content in honey would be reduced, thereby improving the quality with ease in processing. The PABI team, including Karanvir Singh Gill, Business Manager and Rahul Gupta, Assistant Manager, were also present during the deliberations.
