The order came as Mann, along with Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, visited the Beas area here.

He said a special girdawari (crop damage assessment) should be conducted as soon as the water level recedes to ensure adequate compensation to the affected people.

The CM said his government would compensate people for the loss of every single penny incurred by them due to the floods. Describing the situation as “unprecedented”, he assured of all possible assistance from his government to the people, adding that already a massive relief and rescue work had been initiated.

The statement said he directed deputy commissioners of flood-ravaged districts to mobilise “all resources at their disposal to evacuate people”.

Sukhbir warns of stir if adequate relief denied

SAD president Sukhbir Badal threatened to launch a stir if the AAP government failed to give suitable compensation to flood-hit people. He also accused the government of failing to strengthen river embankments on time. He said Haryana and Rajasthan, which had been seeking additional share in riverwaters, “failed to even ask for the well-being of Punjab”.
