It is abuse of law by govt, says officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht Gargaj
Taking cognisance of the extension of the detention of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh under the National Security Act, the officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, today termed it as “abuse of law by the government”.
Amritpal’s uncle Sukhchain Singh and others today held a brief meeting with Giani Gargaj at the Akal Takht secretariat.
Giani Gargaj said till date the government shied away from formulating a stern law against the sacrilege instances, but when it comes to suppressing the Sikhs, it would not hesitate to abuse the laws like the NSA.
“It is a violation of human rights under a democratic set-up,” he said.
Meanwhile, family members of Amritpal held a press conference in which his father Tarsem Singh stated that if anything happened to him, only Bhagwant Mann and his government would be solely responsible for it.
